International Wayfarer Rally Rantzausminde Denmark.

Introduction

In 2025, Denmark is hosting the Wayfarer Worlds XIX in Skive Sailing Club. There is a tradition for choosing the same country for hosting the International Wayfarer Rally in conjunction with the World Championship, to give interested Wayfarer Racers, who has traveled the long distance to Denmark, a chance to go cruising after the Worlds.

Venue

The Rally 2025 committee has chosen the best of the best for Wayfarer sailing for you, namely: the South Funen archipelago with base camp at Rantzausminde Camping site.

The campsite is approx. 7 km. from the centre of the cozy market town of Svendborg, located just where the strait through Svendborg opens to the archipelago.

Every morning at the skippers meeting there will be suggestions for sailing trips led by sailors with knowledge of the waters.

Should the weather not be suitable for sailing, there are many opportunities for sightseeing on Funen.

Rantzausminde Camping

Your Wayfarer is moored to a pole:

As you can see in the pictures at the top and to the left, the Wayfarers will be moored to poles. We have many poles and a big hammer so you can hammer the pole firmly into the sand. The area is shallow with the same depth more than 100 meters from the shore, so you can walk out to your dinghy in shorts. The bottom is fine sand all over!

In the shallow water just below the campsite, the boats are well protected from waves, and from here we have free access to the South Funen archipelago.

The South Funen Archipelago

There are many destinations that you can reach in the Wayfarer, and since the water depth in many places is shallow, sailing in the Wayfarer dinghy has many advantages, whereas the keelboats must stay in the marked channels.
The waters between the islands are reasonably protected. In fresh winds, the waves remain small but steep. We can choose to sail to small islands with lovely nature and fine sandy beaches. Many of the islands are still inhabited, although the population has fallen sharply over the last 100 years.

Larger islands with market towns are within 2 - 3 hours of sailing from our “Base Camp”, and here there are shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as many tourist attractions.

Prerequisites, Registration, and Booking

Participation in the Rally assumes that Wayfarer sailors have some years of experience in Wayfarer sailing.

In case of weather shift to fresh wind, your Wayfarer must have a reefing system and you as well have sufficient skills to reef your Wayfarer at sea.

An outboard motor is not a must, but it can be practical to have if the wind is calm.

It is expected that you bring good protective sailing clothes.

For over seas participants, we will arrange for you to borrow life jackets and sailing bouancy.

The Rally is primarily organized for adult sailors, and probably not so interesting for children under 14 years.

Limitations: The Rally will be limited to 80 persons, according to the principle first come first serve.

Based on the preliminary information about the Rally 2025, we have already received many inqueries from from Wayfarer sailors, who have asked for additional information and indicated they wish to participate in the Rally.

As it is an international Rally we want to meet participants from as many different countries as possible. Therefore, a "soft" quota is set for each Wayfarer organization. When the quota is reached there will be organized a waiting list.
